The Deadline For Registering With The Turkish Data Controllers Registry (VERBIS) Has Been Postponed Again

The Turkish Personal Data Protection Board announced on its website that the deadline for registering the Data Controllers’ Registry Information System (VERBIS) has been extended by considering that data controllers have been struggling to fulfill the obligation to register VERBIS due to the COVID-19 outbreak. As per underlying decision 11/03/2021 dated and 2021/238 numbered of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board, it has been concluded that;

  • For natural and legal person data controllers resident abroad, the deadline for fulfilling VERBIS registration and declaration obligation to Registry to be extended to 31.12.2021,
  • For natural and legal person data controllers with less than 50 employees and the annual financial statement of lower than 25 million TL annually, and whose main activity is sensitive personal data processing, the deadline for fulfilling VERBIS registration and declaration obligation to Registry to be extended to 31.12.2021,
  • For the data controllers considered as public institutions and organizations, the deadline for fulfilling VERBIS registration and declaration obligation to Registry to be extended to 31.12.2021,
